Herrenchiemsee – the Fairytale King’s Palace

We will leave Munich and take the highway in direction towards Salzburg to get to Prien. There we will take a boat to Herrenchiemsee Palace, which is located on Herreninsel island in the middle of Lake Chiemsee.

Ludwig II. of Bavaria, also known as the Fairytale King, commissioned this palace as an homage to Louis XIV of France, whom he admired. A tour through the gardens and the interior of the palace will remind us of Versailles’ magnificence.

After our visit we will take the boat back to Prien, where we will have lunch. Return to Munich in the afternoon.
