Nuremberg and Ingolstadt

Our first stop during this excursion will be Nuremberg, the capital of the Franconia region.

Emperors and princes, warlords and abductees, inventors and scholars – since the Middle Ages Nuremberg reflects Germany’s history: impressive, pulsating and vacillating between greatness and tragedy.

During our tour through Nuremberg’s historic mile – the route where historic monuments and buildings can be found- you will get to know a lot about the city’s history. We will see two churches, Frauenkirche and St. Lawrence, – both of them splendidly and richly decorated – Fembo’s House, which is home to the City Museum, Tucher Mansion Museum and the former house of Albrecht Dürer. The Artisans’ Patio invites you to have a look at its many shops, a mixture of modern and ancient crafts. There one can observe the working craftsman and buy the crafts as a present. The crafts are made of either brass or leather, you can also purchase some of the famous original Nuremberg Gingerbread or the famous Nuremberg sausages that are called “Rostbratwurst”.

On our way back to Munich we will visit Ingolstadt, a university city near the Danube river, which excites for its charm and extraordinary atmosphere. A big attraction is its picture worthy old town and its elegant Gate of the Cross (Kreuztor). There are many monuments waiting for you behind the gate, like the New Castle, the Asam Church, the Anatomical Institute and the old City Hall. The pedestrian area with more than 300 shops and gastronomy venues, as well as numerous street markets make a visit to the old town a real pleasure. After the tour you will have some free time to enjoy and explore the pedestrian zone on your own.
