Grand Tour of Austria
Day 1 Arrival to Vienna
Arrival transfer from the airport or train station to your hotel. Accommodation.
Day 2 Vienna - Graz
In the morning transfer to Graz by train, approx. 2h35min. Arrival to Graz and check in at the hotel.
In the afternoon, walking tour through the old town of Graz, approx. 2h with English speaking guide. We’ll start the tour with a walk through the centre of Graz, one of the best-preserved historical centres in Europe. We will continue towards the Schlossberg Mountain, where the “Clock Tower” is located – the symbol of the city Graz. From there we will enjoy a wonderful view of the picturesque roofs of the city. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 3 Graz - Klagenfurt
In the morning transfer to Klagenfurt by bus, approx. 2h. Arrival and check in at the hotel.
Afterwards walking tour through the centre of Klagenfurt with English-speaking guide, approx. 1,5h. Located on the shores of Lake Wörthersee, the city impresses with its architecture in Italian Renaissance style with a Slavic influence. The most curious thing about this city is probably its symbol – the “Lindwurm”. A statue of an animal that is supposed to be a mixture between a snake and a dragon. The highlight is the visit to the Armorial Hall “Wappensaal” which is located in the Carinthian regional parliament. More than 655 painted coats of arms demonstrate the power and influence that this Austrian region had in previous centuries. Rest of the afternoon at leisure.
Day 4 Klagenfurt - Salzburg
In the morning transfer to Salzburg by train, approx. 3h. Arrival to Salzburg and check in.
In the afternoon walking tour through the historical city of Salzburg, approx. 2h, with English speaking guide. Salzburg’s most important sights are waiting for you! The tour starts at the gardens of Mirabell Palace, from where you will have a great view of the fortress. After crossing the bridge over river Salzach, we will pass by Residence square, the Cathedral, the Horse Pond, as well as the Festival house and Saint Peter’s Church. At the end of the tour, we will take the funicular up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress and visit the halls and museums located inside the castle.
Day 5 Salzburg
Day at leisure to explore the city on your own. We recommend visiting Hellbrunn Palace with its impressive trick fountains that delight both the little ones as well as the adults. The entrance is included in the Salzburg Card that we include in this package.
Day 6 Salzburg - Innsbruck
Transfer to Innsbruck by train, approx. 1,5h. Arrival and check in at the hotel.
Then walking tour through Innsbruck’s city centre with English speaking guide. Today you will explore the most important sights of Innsbruck, also called Capital of the Alps. In the historic city centre, there you can find the Court Church and the impressive tomb of Maximilian I., emperor of the Holy Roman Empire, which is surrounded by 28 black statues made of bronze. You will also see Hofburg Palace, the former imperial residence, Innsbruck’s enchanting medieval houses that give the city its special flair and, of course, the Golden Roof. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 7 Innsbruck
Day at leisure. We recommend going up the mountains on the impressive Nordkettenbahn funicular, the use of which is included in the Innsbruck Card we include in this package.
Day 8 Innsbruck - Vienna
In the morning transfer to Vienna by train, approx. 4h15min. Arrival and check in at the hotel. In the afternoon time at leisure.
Day 9 Vienna
Walking tour through the historic city centre of Vienna in the morning. Today you will see Vienna’s most important sights.
You will take a walk through Vienna’s Imperial history. Starting from the world famous Vienna State Opera and strolling through the streets and squares where Empress Sisi and Emperor Francis Joseph as well as Empress Maria Theresa went for a walk you will discover the history and myths of this city. Once you arrive to the Imperial Palace Hofburg, which is home to the Spanish Riding School, you will visit the Imperial Apartments and the Sisi Museum dedicated to the life and death of Empress Elisabeth I. Afterwards you will pass by St. Peter’s and St. Michael’s church until you finally reach St. Stephen’s cathedral (exterior visit), where the tour ends. Afternoon at leisure to explore the city on your own. We recommend an interior visit to the Vienna State Opera or a walk through the gardens of the Belvedere Palace.
Day 10 Vienna
Time at leisure until check out and transfer to the airport with English speaking driver.
