Culinary walk through the historic center
From our meeting point at Schwedenplatz, we’ll head to the Griechenbeisl restaurant, founded in 1447 and considered the oldest restaurant in Vienna. Since its founding, it has served as a meeting point for artists, scholars, and politicians. We’ll then stop by the Figlmüller restaurant, known throughout the country for its Wiener Schnitzel, which has been served here for over 115 years. It is said that nowhere else is the meat as tender and the breading as golden and crispy as here. Of course, our guide will tell you all about this famous dish and its creation. Passing through the narrow streets of the historic center, we arrive at the Heiner confectionery and pastry shop, founded in 1840 and the official supplier to the court during the monarchy. Today, it produces all kinds of cakes, pastries, chocolates, and sweets. We’ll invite you to try the handmade chocolates. You also can’t miss a visit to one of the most traditional and authentic cafés—Café Diglas, just around the corner. It’s just one example of the long tradition of Viennese cafés, and you’ll learn many interesting facts about it from our guide. On the way to our last stop, we’ll stop by the official store of the Manner factory, which produces the famous biscuits of the same name. After this walk, everyone deserves a little snack. To end the tour, we invite you to a sausage and bread at one of the city’s most famous snack bars. The “Bitzinger,” just behind the Opera House, is the meeting point for singers, actors, opera lovers, and other illustrious figures, serving its sausages until well after midnight.
