Medieval Graz
At the beginning of our tour, we visit the only ‘Landeszeughaus’: 32,000 historical weapons and suits of armor, almost 400 years old, in an authentic setting. From flintlock rifles and plaster mortars to tournament armor and the famous medieval swords “Bidenhander.”
The next stop on our tour of Graz’s highlights is the late Gothic cathedral. This is one of the most important buildings in the city in terms of art and cultural history, built in the 15th century.
Together with the nearby Imperial Mausoleum, the castle, and the theater, the cathedral forms the ensemble of Graz’s ‘city crown.’
Afterwards, we climb the green hill in the city center. Once a fortified hill with gloomy dungeons, today it is an inviting recreational area. Fascinating views of the unique landscape of rooftops and the panorama of the surrounding area, as well as thrilling views of the two towers: the bell tower with the heavy ‘Liesl’ and the clock tower, the emblem of Graz.
