Piber & Lipizzaner Horses Tour – Bärnbach – Stübing
We begin our tour with a visit to the only horse breeding farm in Piber. The Lipizzaner horses, the oldest horse breed in Europe, have been bred here for over 100 years, primarily for the famous Spanish Riding School in the Austrian capital, Vienna. Here, we learn all the details about the breeding, care, and history of the white horses.
The parish church of Bärnbach, commonly known as the Hundertwasser Church, was completely renovated in the 1980s, and the building was redesigned by Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who primarily focused on the exterior.
Typical of his style is the onion dome tower with its golden onion and the exterior walls, which are designed in the style of fantastic realism with colorful ceramic elements and various colored stuccos.
During the peaceful drive through the beautiful green landscape, we stop for a late lunch at a typical inn.
Afterward, we visit the famous Stübing Open-Air Museum, the largest collection of original historical buildings and farms in Austria, covering an area of 65 hectares.
The 103 original buildings were carefully measured at their original locations, dismantled, and meticulously rebuilt in Stübing.
